Running in the final event of the meet Sunday, Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake broke the meet record in the 200 meters, running 20.18, according to an IAAF report. The previous meet record belonged to John Regis, who ran 20.25 to win in 1987. On Sunday, Danny Talbot also ran under Regis' record with his 20.20 second-place finish. This was Mitchell-Blake's first time competing at the British Championships. His family moved to Jamaica when he was 13 and he spent the last five years training in the U.S. while a student at LSU. While Mitchell-Blake had not competed at the British Championships before, he did compete for Great Britain in the 200 at the Rio Olympic Games. By winning Sunday, Mitchell-Blake secured a spot on the Great Britain team for the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in August in London.
